CREATION TOOLS
Coach Note
Coach Note is an incredibly versatile app with which you can create, save and share complex sports tactics that translate effortlessly into real-life sports plays. Check out how I used it for TGfU through Coach Note.
Explain Everything
Whiteboard app that I have used to remove the barrier of literacy skills for early years students. By recording their voice over the top of a picture it allows these younger students to reflect in a more meaningful way. Check out an example here as Denzil explains the importance of looking at the target when throwing.
Ubersense/Coach’s Eye
Video analysis made easy. Compare videos side by side, annotate them and record your vocal feedback over the video. Check out how #PhysEd legend Blue Jay Bridgeused Ubersense for video analysis in his classes.
QR Codes
QR Codes can be such a valuable tool in your #PhysEd classes as they allow you to have your students access exactly what you want quickly and easily. All they need to do is Scan the QR Code and they are taken to the resource immediately. Check out some of the ways other members of Team #PhysEd have used QR codes in their class by checking out #PhysEd QR Code Projects or downloading Joey Feith‘s interactive QR Code Skill Posters.
BAM Video Delay
Allow your students to reflect instantly on their performances with BAM Video Delay. This app allows your to show live or delayed video on your device for instant viewing post performance. Check out how #PhysEd superstars Ross Halliday & Andy Vasily used it in their collaborative athletics unit; How Do We Get Faster?

Blogging
Starting a class blog is a fantastic way to share what is happening in your program as well as connect with your community. At my school we use a fantastic blogging platform called Weebly that is super simple to use. All you need to do is drop and drag and you have your blog. Check out www.issphysed.weebly.com to see how I use it at my school for my #Physed program.
You can also check out www.physedblogs.weebly.com for a basic introduction to Weebly and the power of blogging for your program.
Twitter
Check out how I have used Twitter at my school to share student learning & achievement by checking out @ISSPhysEd.
What not start your own twitter feed for your classes and start sharing the learning that is taking place in your #PhysEd lessons.
Vine
Vine is a great tool for recording quick highlight videos that are easily shareable. Check out my school Vine feed here.
CONNECTION TOOLS
Why should you bother looking online to connect? One read of Joey Feith’s article, The New PD: Igniting your Passion with the Power of Social Media for ACHPER National should give you all the reason you need.
Once you have read it and you are ready to join the thousands of other physical educators online then Joey’s handy Twitter101 presentation is a great place to get started. Trust me it will be the best thing you ever did!
Now that you are signed up check out the Team #PhysEd Dream Team list for the most innovative & selfless physical educators out there who are committed to improving the standard of physical education worldwide. I guarantee you if you tweet one of these people with a question you will get a response that will help you out immensely with your practice.
The #PhysEd Podcast
If you want to stay connected and up to date with everything that is happening in the world of #PhysEd then look no further than The #PhysEd Podcast. The brain child of Nathan Horne & Joey Feith this 45 min to 1 hour monthly show has everything you need to stay current and cutting edge in the world of technology in physical education.
Collaborate with other Schools around the World
Read all about Matt Pomeroy’s students and their Global So You Think You Can Dance? challenge which involved collaboration between schools in the US & UK. It was so good and gained so much attention it even made it onto CNN!
Check out as Blake Kampen from Western Australia and his students compete against Anthony Coe & Anita Welsh‘s girls from Ogilvie in Tasmania in the 7 Min Run Challenge. A fantastic example of collaboration between schools on a national level.

Vine is a great tool for recording quick highlight videos that are easily shareable. Check out my school Vine feed here.
Vyclone is a social video platform that lets you co-create, sync and edit multiple views of a shared moment.
This app is perfect for creating “live multi camera” style coverage. Check out how my students used it last year.
Our Mustang Cup Media Crew used this app very successfully to film interviews with different members of the project as well as make updates on the practice sessions.
Check out the video to quickly see how this app could work for you in your SportEd season.
CollabraCam is another fantastic multi angle video solution for filming SportEd units. Check out how @KenForde from Western Academy of Beijing used it in his classes last year in Using CollabraCam for Invasion Game Strategic & Tactical Analysis.
Meerkat is a great new live video streaming app which allows you to stream live video from your phone to all of your Twitter followers at once. Press ‘Stream’, and instantly your live video stream shows up in your follower’s Twitter feeds.
Fixture Maker
Fixture Maker solves all your scheduling and scoring problems. It allows you to easily create a single or double (home & away) schedule for your teams. You can add as many teams as you like and away you go.
Make My Groups is another great app which allows to you separate students into teams. This can be done randomly, or you can set it up to separate certain students and group them into different teams. You can save team lists and also score points using this app. Team Shake is another similar app that Nathan has just discovered that plays a similar role but allows you to rank players based on ability when entering them to ensure balanced teams.
QR Codes can be such a valuable tool in your #PhysEd classes as they allow you to have your students access exactly what you want quickly and easily. All they need to do is Scan the QR Code and they are taken to the resource immediately. Check out some of the ways other members of Team #PhysEd have used QR codes in their class by checking out #PhysEd QR Code Projects.
The picture to the left shows the workflow that we used during the workshop to save our videos and is in my opinion the easiest way to quickly document, collect & organise student learning & achievement. You can read more about how I used Google Drive to create student portfolios in the following articles:
